104 Brilliant is proud to present our newest addition!

Motor Vessel Buffer is our Corps' ship simulator. It is used in the training of our cadets in all Phases.

It was build in collaboration with local businesses who share in our goal of improving the program we offer Canada's youth.

Where did the name come from?

In 2020, the corps held a naming competition during which cadets at the corps could submit their ideas for names. The best 3 names were chosen and put to a vote.

Why "Buffer?"

Many years ago, a staff member of 104 Brilliant took a stuffed animal raccoon, dressed him as a sailor, and named him "Petty Officer Buffer." The good PO was a constant figure in the ship's office and accompanied generations of cadets on many adventures. Sadly, in 2019 Petty Officer Buffer was lost at sea during routine training.

MV Buffer is being installed during the summer of 2020 and will be operational for the start of the 2020/2021 training year on September 1st, 2020.
