International Exchange
Reference: Natl CJCR Sp Gp Instr 7003-1-9 International Exchange Program
The Department of National Defense / Canadian Armed Forces (DND/CAF) and where applicable, the Cadet Leagues jointly sponsor cadet international exchange programs with Cadet Organizations from around the world. Conducted annually, these programs provide the opportunity for selected cadets and officers to experience other cultures and other cadet training programs. Normally, international exchange programs are the subject of bilateral agreements between the DND / Leagues and foreign Cadet Organizations (or similar youth organizations). As such, the programs are usually reciprocal in nature.
The aims of the international exchange programs are to stimulate an interest in topics far removed from the selected cadets’ and officers’ particular locale.

For the 2020 training year
For 2020, International Exchanges emphasize local training and cultural aspects while visiting foreign lands. They afford cadets and officers an opportunity to promote goodwill and friendship among young men and women who share a common interest in maritime, land and air training. Therefore, due to the ambassadorial nature of the program, only cadets and officers who are prepared to display the highest standard of deportment in their host countries will be given an opportunity to represent Canada. Cadets and officers who apply must be willing to fully participate in the different activities and adapt to different cultures, enjoy themselves and maintain a high degree of professionalism.
All 2020 exchanges will be assigned a Canadian CIC Escort Officer (Likely not a staff from your unit but one that is part of the Canadian Cadet Organization).
Individual exchanges may be modified or cancelled at any time to ensure the safety of cadets and the quality of training.
