Naval Communicator
There are three (3) levels of Naval Communicator that may be obtained. Only the highest level badge may be worn on the right sleeve.

Semaphore

1. Send a semaphore message in clear
words at a speed of 25 characters per minute for two minutes making not more than 10 errors. 2. Receive a semaphore message in plain language at a speed of 25 characters per minute for two minutes making not more than 10 errors. 3. Exam to be conducted by an examiner approved by the ACO (Sea). |
Flags and Pennants

1. Identify all flags and pennants used by
the Navy and obtain a grade of 80%. 2. Recite the phonetic alphabet and numerals and obtain a grade of 90%. 3. Exam to be conducted by an examiner approved by the ACO (Sea). |
Restricted Radio Operator - Marine
|
1. Pass a maritime radio operator exam in
accordance with the standards mandated by Industry Canada, including the certificate issued by the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons. 2. Exam to be conducted by a qualified examiner. |
